Why the Dogs of Cyberwar Stay Leashed
Mark Rasch, 2003-03-24

The United States could try out its much-hyped "cyberwarfare" capabilities in Iraq... but it would probably be illegal.

Sidenote: the Value and Danger of Intelligence 2003-04-02
Drew Copley <dcopley@eeye.com>
The best usage of "cyber" tactics is in intelligence.

I think we often forget the value of information... when we think about the value of information systems.

We consider, "What if these systems were destroyed". Have we forgotten that we would far rather have our own systems destroyed then to have our information stolen and used against us?

As for me, I am not so concerned about our ability to wreak havoc on remote systems. I am concerned about our ability to gather intelligence... and defensively, I am more concerned about our ability to keep out intelligence agents, then "destructive" agents.

And, in these regards I am not talking about sniffing on a wire which often may not have the right information at the right time -- or which information may be securely transmitted... but, I am talking about hacking.
