I think the First Amendment part is stretching it a little. Last time I checked the US Constitution (along with basic human rights) didn't apply to foreign countries. As such Al-jazeera is "free" as in beer to publish its web site, but not "free" as in liberty, at least in the US. As an American I am not too concerned with trying to protect the web publishing rights of a state sponsored media whore.
