Haven't used Win2k3, don't much feel any particular need to - though the MSDNAA beta has been sitting idle on my desk for quite awhile now.
Honestly, anyone claiming a Windows install to be "secure by default"? Dude, it rings of desperation by someone up in Redmond.
I am pleasantly surprised that Windows finally removed its collective head from its collective arse and only loads a bare-bones system by default, though. OTOH, as your own admitted err, "experience" with RH Linux shows, I'm willing to wager that a lot of MCSEs will load everything on their shiny new installs, 'just in case' they need 'em. At least we'll have the paper tigers sorted out in short order, ne?
But do me a favor - please, please have someone at SF archive this article so that it won't fall down the Memory Hole come the first major exploit. It would be a shame if I couldn't gleefully link to this article at a future time...
Come to think of it, the guy who said 60 days may be on to something. Anyone care to set up a betting pool? I'm a bit mroe optimistic, so I call dibs on, oh, "95 days" :)
