The material girl's foul-mouthed revenge on music traders could be interpreted as a deceptive trade practice, or even outright fraud.

The RIAA can never really stop p2p file sharing; someone will always come up with a way to share valid files, etc.
One has to wonder why nobody is bitching about software piracy as much as they are about the muzik "piracy". I can understand a "musicians" (I use thats loosely; 'artist' persay) anger in their material being downloaded freely. I must admit, I don't buy CDs anymore due to the fact that I can download them. I have about 1.525 songs, which is good for a 56k modem user. The point, however, is that even though an artists may sell hundreds of thousands, or millions of their album, they usually don't make much money off of their work. There are many other people to be paid; studio workers, record companies, etc...
However, some people do almost nothing and make a CD out of it. For example: an Elton John song has few words in it, most of them are repeating... so all he is doing is singing a few words over a melody. Most of the work would be the singing (which is little effort) or making the melody; in any case, the lyrics take no effort, and in conclusion they shouldn't protest their files being freely shared in p2p clients. They didn't do much, so what do they have to complain about?
Take a look at the rap industry. Rap "songs" usually have 3 verses, including the chorus; the beat is repetetive, so that takes almost no effort... rappers don't sing, so there's no work there, so obviously the work is in the lyrics, and mind you writing 3 verses and a chorus isn't the easiest thing. Now I can sometimes understand when a rapper gets angry about his work being shared for free; he worked hard on his lyrics, and people don't care, they simply download and upload, not buying his CDs. What sort of inspiration is that?
However, if an artist/musician is truly doing what they do for the love of what they do, who cares what they make... if they're on a p2p client, chances are they have money and a good recording studio. If they protest, they're obviously ignorant or money greedy bastards (or both) and should be shot.
