The big $M has no use for such troublemakers as guerrillas, revolutionaries, visionaries and free-lance dogooders. DRM is a development that is in full conformance with their corporate culture.

I believe that breaking away from MS Office is merely a question of management willpower. Users who are technically ignorant of the desktop Windows they use every everyday should feel right at home being just as ignorant of the Lindows/Linux platforms they could be using. In my experience as a consultant, I would not accuse any of the users I have interfaced with of using the full capabilities of the featuritis stricken Microsoft Office.

I am afraid that Star Office is roaring down that same fast track to nowhere - Whatever happened to KISS ("Keep It Simple, Stupid!"). Brainteaser: if the lemmings are all racing toward the sea, how does anyone distinguish which lemming won? My own answer is that the lemming who won the race is the one who was smart enough to refuse to participate. However, other people may have different answers.

Users of Microsoft Office should feel right at home with Star Office, because it is just as featuritis stricken as Microsoft Office. Someone should take the attitude that unnecessary features are potential security vulnerabilities.
