the problem with this technology is the so called "big brother" is NOT in control of this technology as you might think. since you own the item that has been outfitted with the RFID, (right now anyways) you have the freedom to do whatever you want with the chip.
for example, since the chip is dumb, who's to say you can build a transciever of your own and hunt for replies in yuor own property. who's to say you cant embed one of these things with a random signature to conflict with the original one
what if the chip verified who it's recieving a signal from? well as previously mention, it would need more memory, which is bound to happen, but who's to say you can't brute force guess the signature?
mainly because you are in posession of the property, i find it very hard to buy that this chip will be effective in tracking you. even if they improved the range greatly, there are already laws in place to prevent peeping eyes when they are not wanted (ie warrants are needed).
this technology is very far from being a feasible tracking device as such painted by the author
