Who pays for security education? Most companies don't want to foot the bill for a single IDS sensor much less a corporate education program. Security is a cost, and THIS is what the ?front office" understands. Most of us "zealots" don't get it.

And in the small biz market it?s impossible to know how far to take security. Does a small biz need more than a firewall, anti-virus software, UPS, and tape backup? The SMB market is the largest group of MS-Windows users, and the most under-educated; but how do you educate them? Who pays? Most small biz folks don?t even HAVE an admin person. They just have a ?computer guy? who comes out to fix only the problem he?s asked to fix. If he pushes security (more parts and labor), then he?s seen as trying to bilk the customer.
