Oh of course it is occassionally the way to get things done. Our government breaks its own laws all the time, and it doesn't take too long a look, either back or deep, to see that people willing to risk jail have and will continue to make effective change. See the Civil Rights Movement for details...so you don't have to go racing back to how this country was founded to see what I am talking about. The kid warned them, and then did what he said he would do. Motive sure as hell is a mitigating/extenuating factor...and a little disobedience is a good thing.
