Problem with a system that automatically deposits your paper ballot in a locked box is how will you be able to spoil the ballot if you see that it didn't print out what you voted?

The only way it can work is if the voter is able to visually check and manually deposit the verified paper ballot into the locked box himself.

The best system would be one where the advantages of touch screen are used as a method of printing out a nice, neat, uniform, voter-verifiable scannable paper ballot that the voter deposits manually in a locked box. The paper ballot could then be counted by machine, but would still be the official original ballot for use in a recount.

The readability of the paper ballot can be enhanced if necessary using a screen viewer for the visually impaired, basically a camera and viewing screen used to enlarge any printed material for easier viewing. The argument that touch-screens are absolutely necessary for accessibility to the visually impaired is a red herring.
