You said "Every technique you posted about is exact carbon copy, tool for tool, and scenario for scenario from the introduction course of the SANS hacking project." Are you implying the FBI would stoop so low as to steal techniques from abroad? You sound like a terrorist, perhaps al Qaeda? Perception. Isn't it a bitch?

Seriously though, this article made me chuckle and I recalled something downright comical, so here is a story for you. Fact or fiction you be the judge.

"I was once visited by the FBI. My visit came to me when going to work one day, and the first thing that came to *MY MIND* was 'why the hell did I write that paper' (a security document on 'bypassing' LEA tracking methods).

After being questioned for hours about the same thing, I was thrown a wrench, "did such and such put you up to this?" Still thinking in my mind I was being nothing more than scared for having a big mouth, I described other documents and programs I wrote to the agents. One program seemed to have been used in this 'crime' that ocurred. After detailing for the agents how my program worked, they ended their discussion and led me away in cuffs. Other agents walked around taking pictures of my house high fiving each other "Yes! We got so and so from www.f00.com!", and that was all she wrote for that day.

To make a long story short, I was accused of "Breaking into CIA, NSA, FBI, and military computers". Strangely I wasn't even online nor logged into my provider. An agent on stand stated I 'gloated/bragged about the programs I wrote, smirking and bragging'."

You also said: "I know as I taught this course to people yesterday. Are the FBI using SANS material?" What difference does it make. To the average Joe Blow from Kokomo, anything could be said to them. al Qaeda is using encryption to send messages, etc., etc.. People'll eat it up because they don't understand much and when they don't, in kicks the cognitive dissonance.

You mean to tell me, that a cave dwelling, no electricity having, al Qaeda operative who "MAY HAVE" (not the words MAY HAVE), touched a computer, mastered the art of steganography, encryption, covert channels overnight? If you believe that, then my friend I have some fairy pixel dust to sell you.
