Their effort in making things easier and allowing ANYONE (no clue about security) to be hooked up to the Net.
Their failure to inform their users about security issues or even the basics (when they had a chance in the past), has resulted in the continuing presence of old worms/viri.
My general advice to home users is to setup or buy a decent router/firewall that IS NOT based or linked to Windows. Never leave a Windows PC "at the front door".
There a quite a few "pre-made" firewall distributions (Linux/BSD, whatever), that only require some networking knowledge to setup. (It takes about 10min)
Windows users should at least use something like Mailwasher (free) in regards to emails, to see what's in their inbox before downloading it through OutLook Express. They also have to learn to see what's a legit Email or fake/infected crap.
At least people should be informed of the basics. Information and prevention is FAR better than the cure for the computing world. :)
I doubt every network security people will be out of a job, as there is still need to MAINTAIN security. ;)
