IBM makes several types of computers that cannot get viruses, be hacked, etc. but they are too expensive for the home market. I am happy to see that many ISPs are moving to those kinds of boxes and in the future will be offering services to home users so the bad stuff can be stopped before it gets to us.

I think Scott has created a great check list to which more stuff can be added, such as what was mentioned in my first post here, if you can find it ... such as POWER PROTECTION for your PC so it is not at the mercy of power spikes from the public utilities, and in my case also not at the mercy of brown outs.
