Clearly, the best way to tackle this problem is to increase awareness of it. It's got to be worth trying a worldwide prime time TV advertising campaign, targeted at people who haven't a clue about the problem. I'm sure that advertising industry executives could come up with some hard hitting ideas, which may need to be tailored for different cultures. This would obviously be expensive, so who should pay for it? Well, Microsoft's past programming practices are responsible for the problem, so they have got to be the best candidate. It would make them look like the good guys too.
