The 12KB Bomb
Kelly Martin, 2004-03-17

It only takes a 12KB virus for total system compromise and a highly effective spam engine. Anyone can make one. Some assembly required.

and it only takes one line of code to wipe out a harddrive, Here's a better comparison, How big are the patches that fix the issues that allow those worms to spread? I used to find the Automatic Updates service annoying, but with how important the patches are and with an unpatched system most definately compromised in under 4 hours with any decently spreading worm its better to just leave it on. So...even with a service that will automatically update and patch your system...how can these worms still spread? If Microsoft releases a patch for a known issue, and a worm comes out for it...the blame then falls on the end user for not installing that patch. sure you could blame MS for the hole in the first place...but nobodies perfect (and coming from me, someone who doesnt support microsoft very much at all thats quite the comment). Furthermore Windows is bloated to hell. ive rambled on too much now, l8er
