In cases of interstate and international text and voice traffic, how can I protect my clients? For a living I do technology auditing and computer security for national and international entities. As part of my bag of tricks I use ?sniffers? to collect traffic and then often input the data into a third piece of technology like EXCEL or SAS. Have I violated someone rights someone where on the planet because I need to analyze my client?s traffic? Is there a break-off or threshold point to consider? And that traffic could be used in court for break-ins, nasty language and pictures, transference of sensitive copyrighted material or other pieces of proof against a third party.

I am concerned over hacks, emails, etc. because in the New Hampshire case, the guy knowingly broke the law. In the case of a hack, etc. the same occurs. As a CPA I am confused by the laywering profession, and this case makes me wonder if I have inadvertently violated the law somewhere down the line.
