I'm in charge of a 50-machine network in an English Language school in Indonesia. For the past two years I've almost all but banned IE outright - I crippled it beyond belief and it has no access to any IE-specific scripting (filtered out via Proxomitron on the proxy server). What remains of IE is all that is needed to get Office and Outlook(*) functioning. The basic renderer and not much else.

Each machine has both Opera and Firefox installed. I advise everyone to use either of them, with preference for Opera.

It was a universal case of "Oh, okay." They switched without any complaints whatsoever. Several students have even asked about doing the same for their home machines.

Throughout this time, the network has had zero virus infections and porn is an extreme rarity.
