That's the worst case. Another computer that the kids use became so slow over time that it was useless. The problem was that every kind of spyware and adware had made it's way on to the system. That system needed a clean install of the OS to recover.
Now my kids all use iBooks rather than Windows machines. I haven't had any spyware problems since, nor have I had to spend countless hours keeping up with patches and doing all it takes to keep a Windows machine running. They were easy enough for the kids to set up and I've had to do ZERO maintenance on them.
