After reading SecurityFocus' article and battling spyware non-stop for a day or two, I ditched IE in favor of Firefox. So far, very few complaints about the browsing experience (smart scrolling occasionally misbehaves), but kudos to no unexpected popups filling up the screen with the fake "General Fault" message.

What I wonder is this--how long will it take me before I ditch my Win2K box in favor of a Linux one? After all, outside of my work as a programmer, all I need as a PC user is access to the Internet, a word processor, and a few games.

I truly think it's a matter of time. Things may be bad indeed...
