The Allure and Curse of Complexity
Jason Miller, 2004-07-01

The curse of complexity is the bane of every security administrator, so UNIX users take your pick: would you like BSD or Linux?

COMprehensive
I don't mean to be a punk but I do believe you are missing the point. To compare mozilla vs explorer would be the equivalent of comparing "apples to apples." If you follow the logic of the authors premise for the article you will see that he is trying to point out the inherent problems of complex systems. Therefore a comparison is made (explorer vs lynx) to demonstrate a model for his assertion; which is (complex vs simple).
A comparison of two complex objects (explorer vs mozilla) wouldn't really be a useful comparison in this case. Yes I'm sure mozilla has it's flaws as do most architecturaly complex applications. Then again the focus here is not on the flaws within specific applications. We are trying to understand why complex systems lay up more room for error. I hope this helps and if for some stupid reason I am missing the point someone please steer me correct.
Cheers.
