From what I see here; we have the two classes going at it. Fact is, software is not hardware. These things are supposed to be in reasonable condition when we purchase. No they are not cars, or VCR's, or skates. This is software.

Microsoft's record speaks for itself so when you think about it, they're really saving face. After a few more years of more and more patches, and major blunders security wise, people... including the buying "Joe Public" are going to go experiment and try other options.

Also what I've seen is that the predominant amount of problems with Win2k and XP, turns out to be issues with IE and browsing the web. Load on a NON-Microsoft browser, and a NON-Microsoft firewall and your set. Incidentally; if you think the Microsoft firewall is worth a damned, guess again. I like how it does block out a lot of trash, but even if you tell it to block all outgoing stuff, anything Microsoft related still gets out... whats up with that???!!!!
