Apple's OS X is not safer or less susceptible to vulnerabilities and viruses than other OSes, and Apple's secretive culture is bad for the security world.

Another vague article about Mac OSX security. This article is like cotton candy; you bite into it and there is nothing there. All of this adds up to nothing, as did Lance Ulanoff's earlier article, as does Paul Thurott's constant natter on this subject, plus Secunia articles, etc.
Fact: There are no Mac OSX viruses. Not one. I think this does a lot to refute your "concerns", especially when we contrast this with.....
Fact: There are something like 70,000 viruses/worms/etc for that OS from the "whipping boys in Redmond". Sounds to me like they deserve a whipping. (Now, admittedly, this includes all versions of Windows, and XP is certainly better. However, the only computer virus problem I've had was on a corporate-managed XP machine that was infected behind a firewall!)
What gets reported, endlessly, are theoretical "vulnerabilities" in OS X. This is a bit like the -possibility- that Al Qaueda has an H-bomb. They might. I can't disprove it, but I don't lose much sleep over it.
The sky is not falling. Mac OS X is the most secure OS that you can get on a personal computer. The facts, the actual data (as opposed to theoretical possibilities) show this.
