Email Privacy is Lost
Scott Granneman, 2004-07-29

As if the common use of "web bugs" inside spam was not enough, companies are using new techniques to watch and track the private emails you read, forward, print, and more.

Scott, I appreciate your views and respect them. However... in this world of electronic signatures, eMail transmission of important documents, such as elements of a contract, it important that the sender be able to validate receipt of a post, particularly if the post has an important attachment... preferably a secure PDF file. In Arizona, we as real estate practitioners, when we transmit an acceptance or counter offer to the other side of a transaction, the mere transmission of the communication is considered delivery... if the delivery has in fact simply reached the receivers eMail server. The only way to know this is to deploy a piece of technology like ReadNotify. It is true, that there are nefarious connotations that can be conjured up and are... in all likelihood... taking place. However, used responsibly, these types of tools are a valuable resource for the professional REALTOR or any other professional who has a genuine need to track his/her posts. BTW... ReadNotify is not the only eMail tracking system available. Take a look at "www.didtheyreadit.com", another company who offers a very similar system. Thanks for the commentary... and... in some ways... we're on the same page... and... in some ways we are not. Best to you always. G2Realtor, Phoenix Arizona (LOL you'll find me anyway if you Google me... LOL)
