Then comes the real world. There are home users and small businesses out there that have invested a lot of money in their 2000 desktops and/or servers and are not ready to fork out the bucks to replace them.
To expect everyone to change to XP simply because it is more secure is rediculous. Perhaps it will help the economy in that Microsoft will have a nice fat profit for the year, but what is to happen to the people who simply can't aford it?
I think that 2000 can be made secure. I've been running 2000 servers on the internet for years, and because I went out of my way to learn secuirty and maintain my servers religiously, they have never been hacked or infected by a virus.
So don't write off 2000 before its time you narrow minded moron. I think even if they don't provide a full service pack for 2000, Microsoft should NOT leave their smaller customers out in the cold. They should continue to provide security patches for 2000 for years to come.
