Tim Mullen, 2004-08-11

Service Pack 2 for XP represents a sea change in Microsoft's security posture. Here's why you should ignore the naysayers and start planning your upgrade.

I really need to clean my yard but I had to reply. It was clear to me what mullen said. "If you care about security --- upgrade" and you say for people to upgrade because of security is ridiculous. Why are you even here? If you had to "invest" in Win2000, then you'd better get a new job that pays better. People like you are the problem. You stand behind buying a OS like it was an investment when it is another business expense. Stop lying to your boss. You spent a hundred or so bucks per station 3 or 4 years ago, and you expect it to last how long? 10 years? You probably get paid every 2 weeks don't you? You pay insurance every month. You pay maintenance on your copiers. You change the oil in your car, and pay for it. Who told you software was any different.

I doesn't matter if you are ready to upgrade or not when the time comes. An investment is something you get more for than you paid for. How much do you think your Win2000 licenses are worth?

That's a Florida opinion.

FL Jim
