Trusting M$ to make competent decisions in reducing security exposures is like letting Michael Jackson run your kids Day Care. If the OS was not fundamentally unsound (from a security point of view) I might feel more compelled to congratulate uSoft on a valiant effort... but it's not... and this is a deceptive move on behalf of the folks in Redmond. What in essence they are saying is "You will not get Crabs if you sleep with us." What they are omitting in this "disclosure" is the Herpes and AIDS problem that still exists.
Defending Microsoft's unwillingness to drop their flawed foundation is folly. In addition, eagerly accepting their "too little, too late" flowers is a clear endorsement of their infidelity.
Finally, if there is a remote possibility that one compromised machine can lead to the failure of security products across your entire domain don?t we have a right to be concerned? Is it possible that being a little to paranoid might be a healthier alternative to being a little ?owned??
