Academia Headaches
Scott Granneman, 2004-09-15

Academic institutions who have to add, manage, and secure thousands of new users within a period of just a few days face political and social issues on top of the immense technical ones.

It was nice to read this article. I am the only one in my office that knows how to cut and paste so when it comes to security that is the last thought on the staff's minds. Therefore I have been the self appointed IT department. I have had to incorporate new technologies which also means more security and sometimes more problems. I never realized how much grief you IT people have to put up with.

I agree with the article when it mentions that some people do not take ownership of their computer and simply expect it to work all the time. It is frustrating to me to that people do not understand that a computer does require work to keep it running.

Basically thanks for the article. It is encouraging and nice to know that I am not the only person who gets frustrated with others ... in aptitude to deal with computers.
