The University of Florida Division of Housing has implemented a much more advanced system for some time now. It's called ICARUS. Full control of every layer, 1-7. 110Mbit to UFcore, VMPS, MAC based regisration, IDS/IPS, p2p protocol detection and control (even encrypted waste, ect.al), any other protocol detection and control, 7000 users.
