I've always been amused by the similarities between the words "monopoly" and "monolithic" ... I think it's a no-brainer to conclude that their business model naturally produces bloated, inefficient products full of holes.

It's not a particular product which is broken, it is the closed-source, market-driven development process by which they are made.

The Seeds of Disaster are really those dumb purchasing decisions - it's high time someone did get fired for buying you-know-who as it should be pretty clear by now who was zooming who. Does Word XP *really* do so much more than Word 95? Of course not. But it sure made someone a lot of cash.
