Didn't your momma ever tell you that two wrongs don't make a right? I hate spam as much as anyone, but fighting spam by DOSing the spammers is not the solution. And what criteria determines a spammer?
And noone mentioned the worst case scenario- what if Lycos were to lose control of their DDOS network and it begins packeting other, innocent people? I don't feel that it would be too unrealistic for a hacker to hack either the application or Lycos it self to make this happen.
I am glad that Lycos took their bad-idea hats off.
