People who commit armed robbery, sexually assualt innocent people, and companies that defile the environment and destroy people's retirement funds through fraud should not be getting lighter sentences than people who propogate spam (and really it was a small amount of spam comparitively).
This is just a kneejerk reaction by a court that got two of the tens of thousands of spammers out there and decided to punish them for the annoyance their own clogged mailboxes cause them. 3 years is a message - 9 is an over-reaction.
