All of this is to be expected from a society which is not mature enogh to accept a futuristic communications medium such as the Internet. Fear and hype distort judges' decisions and technological ineptitude is the reason for users' whininess. The fact that the issue of exuberant punishments for nonviolent digital crimes is discussed only in the security field ( and not everywhere ) is an indication of society's overlooking of the importance of such actions on the gov'ts part.
