Instead of the usual "slap in the wrist" for crackers and malware distributors etc. there should be SERIOUS consequences that are so painful that it would be a more effective deterrent. For instance- public, televised canings followed by 20-30 years in the slammer. Sadly, our justice system continues to coddle these losers.
For my part, if I ever meet one of these folks in person, I would be happy to administer my own "special" consequences.
