The recent string of high profile security breaches doesn't even hit the radar of the average user worried about the privacy of his personal information.

Just an interesting footnote to this.

For all intents and purposes, the Americans who have potentially been compromised are apparently not at all concerned about this.

After the LexisNexis compromise, the company offered a free credit monitoring service to the potentially compromised individuals, and so far, only 2% have taken them up on the offer.

The apathy is pathetic, if the people who's data has been stolen don't care, why should the company or congress. Like many things in our world today, if the masses don't care, untold harm can result with naught any activity from the law makers.

Sad.
