The "powers that be" can lament public apathy ad nauseum, but they are largely responsible for it. How long are we to remain interested when the only action on the issue seems to be production of an endless stream of patches and blockers and firewalls and other gadgets, which we must seek out and/or buy, all of which fail to prevent the next variety of threat?
Where are the great minds on this? When are they going to see the big picture and move online environments forward from a frontier where we all live in tents and protect ourselves with firearms, to a civilized and secure neighborhood with solid architecture that ensures our safety.
Don't tell me it is not possible. It IS possible, and it must be done as soon as possible and it must be done. Or the public, no longer willing or able to tolerate the risks, may well be driven to wholesale abandonment of this venue, at least for any serious purpose.
