Are you too paranoid? No, threats are everywhere and the simplest way not to get screwed is to be a difficult target. That said you have made the PC difficult to use for those around you and in the event of your wife not being able to get to your files a possible problem in the case of something tragic happening to you. If this extra hassle is worth it then you're doing things right for you if not then back off to a more balanced compromise. It's basically a risk analysis problem for everyone to solve on their own. How much hassle are you willing to endure (i.e. 50 character passwords) to protect your data? Everyone has to answer it for themselves based on the perceived value of their digitial realm.
