Because Linspire is free? It's not.
Because the software to be added to Linspire is free? It only is if my grandmother doesn't go the CNR Warehouse route and does everything using apt-get. She won't.
Because she will have a broader base of knowledgable users from which to draw should she run in to problems? She won't.
Because Microsoft is an unscrupulous, monopolistic, evil entity? Let's be honest. Our grandmothers don't care about that.
Because Linspire is more secure than Windows? Well, it would appear that we are back at the "root" of the issue.
