How much do you trust your government? That's a question that all of us have to ask, perhaps the more often the better. Thomas Jefferson, one of the founders of the United States and its third President, wrote to Abigail Adams in 1787 sentences that may seem incredible to many people today:

This started a long time ago. An intelligent reading of the Bill of Rights and a knowledge of history explain just what was meant by the 2nd amendment. And yet no one cares. And now after 40 years of the gov't convincing people to give up liberty for safety a different ox is gored and another group is upset. Illegal search and seizure, illegal warrants, who cares as long as we are safer. Until people realize that it is all or nothing for the Bill of Rights we will continue to lose them. And as Franklin said, we won't deserve them either.
