Microsoft and Claria, together at last?
Scott Granneman, 2005-07-13

I don't get mad too easily, but there's one thing guaranteed to really get me steaming, and that's when someone is lying to me. Right now I'm feeling lied to, and while I could be wrong, I don't think I am. Worse, I don't think I'm the only one who's the victim here. I think virtually all of you are having your chains yanked as well.

I would doubt that. If the motive was to shutdown Claria after an acquisition, that essentially presents a $500 million reward for the company that can develop the sleaziest spyware.
That's a tough offer to pass up.

Besides, that wouldn't stop the Claria developers from doing it again. (Microsoft seems to be having trouble with it's non-compete contracts http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/3607.html)
