Microsoft and Claria, together at last?
Scott Granneman, 2005-07-13

I don't get mad too easily, but there's one thing guaranteed to really get me steaming, and that's when someone is lying to me. Right now I'm feeling lied to, and while I could be wrong, I don't think I am. Worse, I don't think I'm the only one who's the victim here. I think virtually all of you are having your chains yanked as well.

I thought you could all use an update.
It is time to give Claria a break.
Claria changed from GATOR to get into the web personalization space. Their GAIN system was incrementally decomissioned through to Oct. 2006. They are no longer in the spyware business. Claria uses a lot of the original backend technologies of behavior tracking to provide state-of-the-art ad-targeting capabilities to large companies as well as through it's own new product http://www.personalweb.com, which is actually very useful. Obviously, now in 2007, MS did not buy Claria, but many of the previously somewhat fair comments are now non-applicable.
