If Dan thinks Microsoft buying Claria is not a security threat, he simply has no clue how Microsoft works.

It doesn't matter what ANY of those people told him at the conference. They really DON'T RUN Microsoft - Bill Gates does and the only thing that concerns that man is how much money he can put in his pocket which he has extracted from your pocket.

Dan should also be aware that any time a Microsoft employee opens his mouth in public, he is a LIAR. So it doesn't matter WHAT ANYBODY said to him at the conference. They were lying and they knew it.

Oh, I'm sure the lower level guys want their stuff to be secure. I'm sure some Nazi concentration camp guards didn't want to be cruel to prisoners.
It's the system in place that decides the outcome. And the Microsoft system GUARANTEES that their software will be unreliable, unstable, insecure, performance poor and expensive forever.

In any event, it's irrelevant. Linux will bury Microsoft on the server AND on the desktop within ten years.

Linux is better than M$, but not to the end user, and the end user drives the market.
