Linux is better than M$, but not to the end user, and the end user drives the market.
OLE+Long Horn Extensions > GTK+

Since OLE+Long Horn Extension = Microsoft
GTK+ = Linux

We all know that presentation, and third party support are inherintly more impacting to a product's success and marketability, we can thus transitively infer that in the eyes of the average end-user consumer:

Microsoft > Linux

And it will stay that way.
