I have nothing but the greatest respect for Jon Udell. His "Strategic Developer" column is the first thing I read when my copy of InfoWorld magazine arrives in the mail, and his blog is one of the best if you're interested in the technical aspects of web development, standards, and practices. If blogging is enjoyable because it allows us to watch an interesting mind at work, then Jon Udell's blog is definitely among the most enjoyable.

Say WHAT?!? The software model has an impact on both the ability to deal with discovered vulnerabilities as well as how those vulnerabilities were introduced by the developers in the first place. The attitude of the Greasemonkey developers is just as much of a weakness in the Open Source model (any halfway-decent programmer can write and publish a decent but imperfect program containing serious security issues), as the community response was in getting the problem fixed.
