Skype security and privacy concerns
Scott Granneman, 2005-09-22

One of my stranger hobbies is collecting interesting and weird anecdotes I find in the news. I have a few areas that always fascinate me, such as finding people who miraculously escape certain death, or items about human memory and cognition, or eccentric individuals who embody some strange aspect of the human condition.

What's interesting for me about SKYPE is that it works to satisfaction for voice communication with satelite systems which have a very slow, high latency upload ability.

I haven't found anything else that does. I wonder does SIP compatibility imply an limit for this compatability, I once had an incoming voice number with PCPhone, great on broadband, but it was entirely useless on satelite. Unfortunately skype doesn't have PSTN numbers in my dialing area, and now this thing with ebay, which increases the already existing security concerns.
