Quote:"OpenBSD's default kernel, called GENERIC, doesn't support LKM (Loadable Kernel Modules). Is this the best solution to fight kernel rootkits?

Jamie Butler: Well, it is a good place to start. However, many choose ease of use over security. Do you really want to have to administer this nightmare in a large company every time someone wants to install a peripheral device such as a printer? "

I guess he doesn't know much, if anything, about OpenBSD. It doesn't need to have drivers added after the OS is installed for peripherals like printers.

If an interface needs to be added and it isn't supported in the version you are running then you have a choice. Either upgrade the OS whilst you have the machine down to put in the card or choose another that is supported already. There are hundreds of drivers installed in GENERIC supporting thousands of devices.
