Letting the UN or EU control the internet would be distasterous to freedom of speech and the freedom and future of the internet.

The UN appoints African leaders guilty of genocide and ethnic clensing to such roles as "UN Human Rights Group". They appoint Iranians to the council of atomic energy.

The UN cannot be trusted to run the internet.

The US control of the internet has been fine since its inception, and should remain that way. It's been safe from censorship and freedom of speech violations. The US wont change anything.

I wouldnt exactly trust the future of the internet to a bunch of corrupt countries. Last thing we need is Fidel Castro telling Americans what we can and cannot browse on the internet.

If the rest of the world wants to branch off and start their own internet.. then i say let them. We are better off keeping the internet open and free to post and trade any informational material or ideologies freely and openly. If China wants to create their own censorship within their own borders, then by all means let them. If Iran wants their own state controlled internet. Then let them have their own.. Just keep their oppressive hands off of my internet.
