internet addressing and root server ownership 2005-10-27

There is a very obvious and meaningful answer to this.

The US should stay in control of the DNS servers and IP addressing, hands down. But why? Not only because it was the US government that created ARPA (which in turn, created the internet), because I could see a switch if for some reason we weren't doing the job correctly. We are doing the job correctly.

1) We invented it
2) We are doing a good job

What reason is there to change?
