Regaining control
Kelly Martin, 2005-11-29

Securing endpoint systems by locking them down using complex software brings back memories of another era, where business computers were once used for business applications only - and businesses retained control over their assets and data.

Give me a break! Why not just go back to a paper system? Endpoints secured, end of story.

For many years software companies did not focus on security, they focused on providing a product that performed a specific function. Now that secuity is a major issue, they are focusing on that. It is all a natural part of the evloution.

When they first started making cars, did they provide seat belts? NO! Because they were too cheap? NO! Because they didn't know enough to recognize it was a problem. Software is no different. Despite the fact that more and more problems are arrising, computers are actually getting more secure.

So lets follow your suggestion, and start by locking down your keyboard so you can't type out any more of these rediculous solutions. :>)
