For many years software companies did not focus on security, they focused on providing a product that performed a specific function. Now that secuity is a major issue, they are focusing on that. It is all a natural part of the evloution.
When they first started making cars, did they provide seat belts? NO! Because they were too cheap? NO! Because they didn't know enough to recognize it was a problem. Software is no different. Despite the fact that more and more problems are arrising, computers are actually getting more secure.
So lets follow your suggestion, and start by locking down your keyboard so you can't type out any more of these rediculous solutions. :>)
