Regaining control
Kelly Martin, 2005-11-29

Securing endpoint systems by locking them down using complex software brings back memories of another era, where business computers were once used for business applications only - and businesses retained control over their assets and data.

Sounds like a good plan to me 2005-12-01

I know I wouldn't like it myself at first, but I'd get used to it.

Just make a white list of external sites that are OK. I don't think it would be too much of a security stretch for people to be able to check local weather, traffic, the bus system, etc. Then there would be whatever sites tie in to work.

On subjects other than browsing, why have a sound card in 95% of work computers? You'll find people won't bother with CDs or mp3s. You just have to spec a motherboard w/o built-in sound.

Resentment? What were you doing before the change other than goofing off? Shut up and get back to work.
