Tracked by cellphone

We know that technology can be used to track people's location via a cellphone, but how difficult is it for law enforcement to get a court order and do this legally?

This is an interesting issue. The techniques used for tracking a person that may be invovled in criminal activity is the same technology that is being made available to help locate those in distress.

Someone in a ravine that can't get out of a vehicle might just be able to get the phone to open a line to call for help (not knowing exactly where they are). I understand the need to protect privacy - but do you trust emergency services - they are arms of the government aren't they?

Careful how much we complain? We just need to be darn sure that we don't bite our noses off in spite of our face.
