We know that technology can be used to track people's location via a cellphone, but how difficult is it for law enforcement to get a court order and do this legally?

This techniques are being used in europe for quite a long time, but their legal status was introduced recently 2001-2004.
In my country just looking at the cell you can see even the neighberhood through the triangulation process.

But I think this is a highly invades your privacy, just consider the secret services just quering the logs in the past few months to see where have you been traveled...
